Locks & Door Hardware (Cylinders, Padlocks, Handles, Hinges)

Mechanical lock sourcing splits into body, cylinder, shackle and finish. Yongkang factories make the whole chain in-house; the price spread comes from shackle steel (carburised 20Cr vs plain 304), pin count, and whether the body is brass, zinc alloy or laminated steel. Finishing (nickel, satin, PVD) is often outsourced and drives the delivery date more than assembly does.

Questions buyers ask

What should I verify before importing locks into the EU?

Ask for the EN 12320 (padlock) or EN 1303 (cylinder) test report from a named laboratory, check the keyway is not a public keyway if you want your own brand, and confirm the plating salt-spray hours actually claimed. Only use certificates the factory can produce in full with matching model names.

Are brass or laminated-steel padlocks better for the trade channel?

For retail display, brass-bodied padlocks sell on finish and weight perception; for rental, construction and logistics, laminated steel with a carburised shackle wins on price and parts-replacement. Many buyers carry both and split them by channel rather than picking one.
